The river flows between Lake Huron and Lake St. Clair and is about 40 miles long. Port Huron is 60 miles northeast of Detroit. You’ll see dozens of vessels a day, including freighters, tankers, tugs, barges, salties, passenger ships, international visitors and other vessels. The shipping season on the Great Lakes normally runs from mid to late March through early January. However, the severity of the winter will impact the exact dates the shipping lanes open and close. Amtrak’s "Southwest Chief" passenger train stops here twice a day; the eastbound train #4 in the morning and the westbound train #3 in the evening. The typical BNSF freight train volume is between 50 and 70 trains per 24 hours. There are 2 cameras available.
